Welcome to Brisbane - My Local Gazette.

Pre-Launch Edition.

Named after a colonial governor Sir Thomas Brisbane- this former penal settlement first opened in 1824 and was used as a camp for repeat offenders sent from Sydney.

As Capital City of Queensland, Brisbane still enjoys many of the casual ways of the 1960's. This is despite now being Australia's third largest city and home to many office tower complexes.  The dress code for money making is still considered to be - big hat- open shirt and shorts. 

All the old world charm of this previously sprawling city was not lost during the the 60's makeover and it has also equipped itself with superb cultural and recreational facilities. Brisbane continues to be a magnet for migration from the south.  There is still the air of New Orleans about the lazy parts of the riverside.

Affectionately known as "Brizzy" it has a wonderful doorstep playground at the Gold Coast where over 3 million tourists a year show a keen interest in this world famous surfers paradise and night-life.
